With culinary surprises
By Franz Sonnenberger. Starring Inge Bickel (Katharina Tucher), Wilma Halt or Maria Rupp (maid) and Alexandra Völkl (Sabine Welser). Director: Thomas Witte.
Join Sabine Welser, Katharina Tucher and her cheeky maid gossiping about the private and social life of their times. Around 1535, there were lively goings-on in Nuremberg's Hirschelgasse. The marriage between Nuremberg Patrician Lienhard Hirsvogel and Sabine Welser ended in a huge divorce scandal. And neighbour, Katharina Tucher, acting "best friend", in her sickly-sweet sympathy doesn't quite manage to conceal her malicious joy about the downfall of the Augsburg Patrician's daughter. But even in the Tucher household all that glitters is not gold ...
This sharp-tongued and tempestuous quarrel between the two Patrician ladies, with additional acid remarks from the Tuchers" maid, will be supplemented by culinary delights. After each "act", spectators will be served delicious snacks prepared according to recipes collected by Sabine Welser in her 1553 cookery book. Cookery artist, Karin Wittenstein, has used her ideas and developed them into her very own seasonal creations.
Do come and accompany Sabine Welser on her visit to the Tucher Mansion and the Hirsvogel Hall, and listen to this sweet-and-sour exchange. Get carried away by these three women who try to make the best of their lives with quick repartee, wit and daring musical interludes. And en route you will find out everything you always wanted to know about the Tucher Mansion and the famous Hirsvogel Hall. In short: "Fine Company" is a declaration of love: for the theatre, for the museum, and for life's culinary delights.
