The Little Polar Bear: Cubs in the Toy Museum!

Today's bear is Flocke, Knut was (supposedly) yesterday's bear, but the Toy Museum's little polar bear is guaranteed to be last century's bear. For polar bears as cuddly toys were very popular in the 1950s. Soft toy manufacturers, such as the Coburg company Hermann-Spielwaren had polar bears in their range even then. The new Collectors' Bear was designed following their historic models.

The little polar bear stands on big felt paws. Its body is made from white mohair and stuffed with wood-wool. With its moveable head, black mouth markings and dark eyes, the polar bear cub takes a cheeky look at the world. It wears a red leather collar with an embossed brass tag. Like its predecessor, the polar bear cub (length 15 cm) is a small bear with great charisma. It was designed and manufactured exclusively as a special edition for the Toy Museum by Hermann-Spielwaren GmbH in the Upper Franconian town of Coburg-Cortendorf. The edition is limited to 333 bears, only available at Nuremberg Toy Museum.

The polar bear cubs cost 58 EUR in the Museum Shop. Mail order is possible with pre-payment (sales price plus 5 EUR for postage and handling) or with credit card payment (Visa/ Master Card).
