General Information

Volunteers

Active commitment to the museums.

There is major interest in Nuremberg and its history! More and more citizens - from Nuremberg, Germany and abroad - visit the city and the municipal museums benefit particularly from this trend.

In March 2005, in order to safeguard, and even increase the quality of services offered, even in times of empty coffers, nuremberg municipal museums launched a pilot project unique in Bavaria: in cooperation with the Nürnberger Zentrum Aktiver Bürger (ZAB - Active Citizens' Centre) the organisational basis was prepared for highly motivated citizens to become volunteers in the museums.

So far, over 30 volunteers have joined us, under the heading "Active Commitment in the Museums", working for the municipal museums with great joy and enthusiasm. They contribute their individual interests, experience and knowledge right among the cultural treasures of their city, and get to know people with similar interests. Of course, these volunteers are trained for their work and supported by us throughout.

Their activities range from offering guided tours (including foreign language ones), to child care and providing a general visitors' service.

We would welcome new volunteers who are native speakers of a foreign language or have good foreign language skills!

Maybe you have some new ideas which we haven't thought of and could contribute your special knowledge to our museums? We are open to suggestions!

We would be delighted if you are interested in volunteer work with nuremberg municipal museums and would like to find out more!
